There's a new book coming out: The High Cost of Free Parking, by Donald C. Shoup, published by the American Planning Association. I'm ordering my copy today. I hope it helps escalate an important dialog in city councils and other decisionmaking bodies in California. I learned about it on a day when two close friends from my church were hit and hospitalized by a car while taking their morning walk. A high cost indeed.
